YOUR WELL-BEING MATTERS
HOW THERAPY CAN HELP

A space to feel heard, understood, and supported through change.

You may spend so much time managing appointments, responsibilities, expectations, or the needs of others that your own emotional well-being gets pushed aside.

Therapy offers an opportunity to focus on yourself. At Tender Roots, we work collaboratively with you to understand your experiences, explore your needs, and build practical skills that support your emotional health.

Feel heard, validated & understood

Share your experiences in a compassionate, non-judgmental environment. Therapy creates room for emotions that may have been minimized, dismissed, or difficult to express. You don't have to justify how you're feeling.

Develop healthier ways to manage difficult emotions

Build strategies to recognize, understand, and respond to anxiety, sadness, anger, overwhelm, and emotional distress. Together, we can explore coping tools that work for your individual needs and circumstances.

Process grief, uncertainty & difficult experiences

Make space for complicated emotions, painful memories, and experiences that may feel unresolved. Therapy can help you explore grief, uncertainty, disappointment, and trauma at your own pace, without pressure to move forward before you're ready.

Strengthen your relationship with yourself

Explore your identity, personal values, needs, and sense of self-worth. Therapy can help you reconnect with parts of yourself that may have felt overlooked during significant life transitions.

Reduce self-blame, guilt & unrealistic expectations

Challenge the pressure to cope perfectly, feel grateful all the time, or meet expectations that don't reflect your reality. Develop a more compassionate relationship with yourself and recognize that needing support is not a personal failure.

Improve communication, boundaries & relationships

Identify your emotional needs, communicate them more clearly, and explore ways to establish healthy boundaries. Therapy can support you in navigating changing relationships, sharing responsibilities, and strengthening connection with the people around you.

Build confidence navigating change & uncertainty

Major life transitions can bring difficult decisions and uncertainty about the future. Therapy can help you explore your options, recognize your strengths, and approach change with greater clarity, flexibility, and self-trust.

Create space for your own needs & well-being

Explore what meaningful self-care looks like beyond simply adding another task to your schedule. Build sustainable habits, recognize when you need support, and make room for rest, connection, and your own emotional needs.

STILL HAVE QUESTIONS? Get in touch
What is reproductive and maternal therapy?

Reproductive and maternal therapy supports women through the emotional, relational, and identity changes that can happen across different stages of reproductive life.

This can include infertility, pregnancy, postpartum changes, pregnancy loss, birth trauma, motherhood, caregiver burnout, perimenopause, menopause, and more.

Therapy offers a compassionate space to explore these experiences, understand your emotional needs, and develop strategies to support your well-being.

Do I need to have a diagnosed mental health condition to come to therapy?

Not at all. You do not need a diagnosis to benefit from therapy.

Many women seek support because they feel overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, anxious, emotionally exhausted, grieving, or struggling with changes in their body or relationships.

You may simply be finding that a major life transition feels harder than expected. Your experiences are reason enough to seek support.

Will therapy tell me what choices to make about pregnancy, fertility, parenting, or relationships?

No. Therapy is not about telling you what decisions to make. Our role is to support you in exploring your thoughts, feelings, values, and options without judgment or pressure.

Whether you're navigating reproductive decisions, fertility treatment, parenting concerns, or relationship changes, we respect your autonomy and your right to make decisions that feel right for you.

Together, we can work toward greater clarity, confidence, and understanding as you navigate difficult choices.

What kinds of postpartum concerns can therapy help with?

Therapy can support a wide range of postpartum experiences, including anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, emotional overwhelm, irritability, guilt, and changes in identity.

It can also help with relationship strain, birth trauma, changes in intimacy, difficulty adjusting to motherhood, and feeling disconnected from yourself or your baby.

Postpartum experiences are different for everyone. You don't need to be experiencing a crisis to deserve support.

Can therapy help with infertility or trying to conceive?

Yes. Fertility challenges can bring significant emotional stress, uncertainty, grief, and changes in relationships or self-esteem.

Therapy provides space to process the emotional impact of trying to conceive, fertility treatments, medical appointments, difficult decisions, and unexpected outcomes.

While therapy cannot treat infertility itself, it can help you navigate the emotional challenges that may accompany your fertility journey.

Can I seek therapy during pregnancy?

Absolutely. You do not have to wait until after giving birth to seek mental health support.

Pregnancy can bring anxiety, depression, changes in identity, relationship challenges, and fears about birth or becoming a parent.

Therapy can provide a supportive space to explore these emotions and develop coping strategies throughout your pregnancy.

Is it normal to experience complicated emotions about pregnancy or motherhood?

Yes. Pregnancy and motherhood can involve a wide range of emotions, including excitement, love, fear, frustration, sadness, uncertainty, and grief.

You may feel grateful for your family while also missing parts of your previous life or feeling overwhelmed by new responsibilities.

These emotions do not determine your worth or your ability to be a caring parent.

Can therapy help after miscarriage or pregnancy loss?

Yes. Pregnancy loss can bring profound grief, sadness, anger, guilt, numbness, or anxiety about the future.

Therapy offers a compassionate space to acknowledge your loss, process difficult emotions, and explore how your experience has affected you.

There is no correct way to grieve and no timeline you are expected to follow. Your experience deserves care and understanding.

What if my birth experience was traumatic?

A birth experience does not need to appear traumatic to others for it to have felt traumatic to you.

Emergency procedures, medical complications, feeling unheard, fear for yourself or your baby, or an unexpected delivery can have lasting emotional effects.

Therapy can offer a trauma-informed space to process your experience, explore difficult emotions, and work toward healing at your own pace.

Can therapy help with PMDD, perimenopause, or menopause?

Yes. Hormonal transitions can affect mood, sleep, concentration, energy, emotional regulation, and overall well-being.

Therapy can help you explore the emotional impact of these changes, develop coping strategies, and navigate challenges involving relationships, identity, and daily life.

Therapy can complement medical care, but it does not replace medical assessment or treatment for hormonal or reproductive health concerns.

What if I'm experiencing intrusive thoughts after having a baby?

Unwanted, distressing intrusive thoughts can occur during the postpartum period and may be associated with anxiety or obsessive- compulsive symptoms.

These thoughts can feel frightening or shameful, particularly when they conflict with your values and intentions. Having an unwanted thought does not automatically mean you want to act on it.

A qualified mental health professional can help you understand what you're experiencing and determine appropriate support. If you feel unable to keep yourself or your baby safe, seek urgent medical help.

How do I know if reproductive or maternal therapy is right for me?

If your reproductive health experiences, emotions, relationships, or life transitions are affecting your well-being, therapy may be a helpful source of support.

You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. An initial consultation can help you discuss your concerns, ask questions, and explore whether a therapist is the right fit for your needs.
